Prologue Worlds Romania 2010

The 2010 World Championship will be sailed in Constanta, Romania the first week August. The venue for this event couldn't be better and organiser Mihai Butucaru is giving his best efforts to make this event a succes.

So far there are 15 FDs on the entry list for this event. Some big names have put their name down early this year.

To build up the anticipation for the 2010 Worlds each week an entered team will be discussed in this topic.


GER 113 Kilian König and Johannes Brack
One of the first teams to enter this event, Kilian and Johannes have been sailing lots of events together for the last five years. They have managed to reach top-ten positions in maior events more and more. Their results have not always been very stable, but from time to time they tend to find the right boat speed to compete with the big boys. A few years ago Kilian started his own sail making company Koenig Sails. The sails he produces are both beautiful and competitive.

HUN 13 András Süli and Dávid Papp
This team has been active in a very international calendar over the last few years. András and Dávid have been sailing steady together and so their results never dissapoint. Competitors should be prepared for a well represented Hungarian fleet this year at the Worlds 2010.

HUN 70 Szabolcs Majthényi and Andras Domokos
These guys obviously need no further introduction. Szabolcs and Andras have competed in almost every Worlds since 1993. They have been World Champions for an amazing six times. It's very clear that these are the guys to beat at the upcoming Worlds in Romania.

NED 5 Fred and Casper Schaaf
Fred and Casper are probably unmatched in the vast number of events they've sailed the last five years. Every single weekend there's another event where they are competing. Fred has been active in the FD class for more than 2 decades. He has sailed with many great crews who all turned out to become very skilled FD sailors. Fred and Casper are both active IFDCO members, and through the many regatta's they've raced in several countries they stayed in touch with FD sailors from all over.

ITA 10 Roberto Cipriani and Stephano Morelli
Always competing in the top 5 at Worlds and Europeans the ITA 10 has been present at many championships for the last two decades. Roberto and Stephano are known for their tactical insights, so don't be surprised to see them out front at the Worlds in Romania.
