Provisional results FD Eurocup 2010

Last weekend Altea Spain was the setting for the Euroflyingcup. This was the first event in the 2010 Eurocup series. For some FD sailors this is the start off for the new sailing season. The Euroflyingcup is always an international event with a loyal group of Spanish FD crews and some enthousiastic Dutch teams at the start. The organising committee in Altea always makes for a very warm event where the sailors feel welcome and relaxed.

This year 11 teams raced in the Euroflyingcup. Right from the start there was one team that would appear the strongest. Francisco Martinez and Vicente Guijarro in the ESP 81 won the event with two first places and three second places. And so they are the early leaders in the provisional Eurocup results.

The Nort Sea near Scheveningen was the arena for last weekends second Eurocup event in 2010. The NSR is growing steadily in numbers. This year 28 teams took part in the regatta. Four enthousiastic teams entered both the Eurocup and the NSR. Klaas Tilstra and Paul van der Pol in the NED 4 have performed very consistantly and are now leading in the provisional Eurocup results.

The third event in the 2010 Eurocup series was the Kieler Woche in germany. The fleet at this event has always been large and international. This year six nations were represented. So far nine different nations were represented in the Eurocup.

Two teams were present at all three events so far. They are Tanja Heijink with the NED 33 and Hugo Maarleveld with the NED 340. Both sailed with different crews in all three events.

Harold Wijgers and Niels Kamphuis in the NED 25 are on top in the provisional standings. They finished 15 races in two events and they can discard the five races they missed in the Euroflyingcup. Their current score is only 82 points.
