[FDBulletin]

The FDBulletin wishes all FD sailors a great 2010. This year's FD season will bring you the FD World Championship in Romania. This Worlds will be oganised under the keen supervision of Mihai Butucaru. Mihai has been a very active FD sailor for the last few years, and his enthousiasm for the class is great. We spoke to him at the Vintage Yachting Games and at the Worlds in Medemblik last season.

The Worlds that he is planning in 2010 is a great endeavour for him. The venue and the sailing arena in Constanta are great so expectations are that this will be a nice event. We wish Mihai all the luck he can get while organising this regatta. And we sincerely hope to see many FDs at the start in July.

This topic will be made to stick to keep you up to date with the entrees and developments on the website.

PROPOSAL

I have noted your amendments to the NOR, there is a problem in that there would have to be a three race day, which we need to avoid if possible. Please may I suggest the following schedule?

Practice 29th July
Registration and Measurement 30th July
Registration and Measurement
and Opening Ceremony 31st July
Races 1 and 2 1st August
Races 3 and 4 2nd August
Races 5 and 6 3rd August
Reserve day (used if only four
races have been completed) 4th August
Races 7 and 8 5th August
Race 9 Prize giving and
Closing Ceremony 6th August

I hope that this is ok.


ANSWER

I think that there is no solution to satisfy all the request I received.
It was a "general " request from Germany and Holland to start the first race on Monday, because there is a two days trip from both countries to Constanta.
The idea neither was to allocate two weekends and one week for the event, and the new NOR is accordingly.
I will work with any idea in order to obtain as many sailors satisfied.

Dear Mihai,
Thank you for that input. I suppose there is no reason to have a reserve day in the Championship so we could take it out and finish on Friday with 9 races? We could reduce the regatta to 8 races?
But people still have to have their boats inspected before they can race, so they cannot just turn up on Monday morning to go racing. I understand the issues raised by the Dutch and Germans, but we do need to sort this quickly don't we?


ANSWER
Our main goal, as organizer body, is to gather as many as possible FD's on the start of an attractive and nice event.
In the gap of time from 29th of July to 6th of August (we can also consider even 27th and 28th of June) we can do anything we want, as consequence of the first phrase above.
In that case, any suggestion embraced by a large majority will be followed.
I will put on the FD forum that question and we will follow the answers.
I think there is no rush to decide the "final" schedule until we will get some proposal from the sailors.
The "final" decision will be done by the end of May.

Hi Mihai we now need to get dates for event finalised as a matter of urgency so all the participants know what's going on. it's proving difficult enough as it is to sort flights without the uncertainty. Waiting to May is not an option it's far to late, we need to know now.

the final decision of the organizing body of the 2010 Worlds Championships Romania-Constanta posted the final NOR with the final schedule. Also there is a special offer from IBIS HOTEL CONSTANTA dedicated to the participants at the event.
