Let me explain . . . we are building a SplashPark in Christchurch, a facility for people of all ages to enjoy the simple pleasures of messing about in water. Sound familiar ?
Within the SplashPark there are features that represent elements synonymous. For example, we have a Well from which children can pump water - in Christchurch there is a fresh-water Well used by Iron Age people. We have a waterwheel – Christchurch has one of the oldest water mills. And we have a Bailey Bridge, the WWII bridge designed and developed in Christchurch.
The last feature will be a specially commissioned seat, celebrating Christchurch's link with the Olympics.

- Pattersons 1968 boat was built by Christchurch Boatbuilder Bob Hoare, but I’m not sure of the name of the boat ? Was it Supercalafragalisticexpialadoshus ? . . .and is that the correct spelling ?
- I think the 1972 boat was also built by Bob Hoare, but it would be helpful if someone could confirm that, and also the boats name ?
- I don’t think his 1976 boat was a Hoare, but again it would be helpful if someone could confirm that.
- Pete Allam was born in Christchurch, an FD crew in 1984 . . .what was the boat called that they won a bronze in 1984 ?
thank you for any help or insight that you may be able to give.
If you are passing Christchurch from May/June 2010, the SplashPark in on Quomps, Christchurch Quay, and will be a place of enjoyment for young and old. Who knows, it may even inspire people to sail an FD
